The heavy rains; mainly in April and May, 2020 triggered floods and landslides which took lives of people, destroyed houses, crop plantations, affected water supplies, transmission lines, roads and bridges.

Affected households, across the country, received bed kits, hygienic kits, kitchen kits and food assistance. Governmental officials also visited them for comfort and requested to participate in prevention and mitigation of disaster risks.

Damaged roads and bridges are under rehabilitation to bring back businesses to normalcy.  Most of destroyed houses were both built with miserable construction materials and in high risk zones; they were very exposed to disaster effects. Affected households are advised to ensure that during the recovery phase, nobody goes back to high risk zones and build back better to ensure disaster resilience to be taken into consideration.
